So what's it all about?

Guisborough Rhythm and Blues Club was established in May 2000 and now into its seventh year. It was a dream realised for the founders of the club Kath and Ralph who have worked tirelessly for many years prior to its birth in providing us with music from local bands and musicians at the regular Monday night jam session at the Black Swan (all welcome) and of course the Wednesday band night at The Tap & Spile. Image: RnB Club photoThe club began in Guisborough Cricket Club originally and the first band were the amazing Connie Lush and Blues Shouter - a Liverpool based band who kicked the club off to a tremendous start with the kind of performance which probably no one ever imagined they would see in a small town club. The following 2 gigs were equally well supported and unfortunately due to some problems the venue then had to move to Guisborough football club. That in itself could have been a great stumbling block after only 3 gigs for both organisers and supporters alike. However Kath and Ralph worked hard in their efforts at publicity for the new venue and the club continues to go from strength to strength. In gaining momentum it has regular visitors from right across UK as well of course as much nearer to home. It celebrated its first and second anniversaries with a return from Connie and the guys who are always welcome visitors and in between a diversity of talent ranging from the amazing accoustic set of Adrian Byron Burns to the raw new talent of the 17 year old Joanne Shaw Taylor (many local guitarists threatened to throw their guitars in the bin that night) and the boogie woogie keyboard skills of the fabulous Mike Sanchez. Every effort has been made to keep the price affordable to encourage more visitors to the club and most who do attend find not only the ticket price but also the cost of drinks to be exceptional value - of course if you book your ticket in advance then the price is a little less.

The club prides itself in having something to offer everyone with so many different styles from Reggae blues, Blues rock, Boogie Woogie, Soul. It is simply about music - and covers a wide spectrum. Come along and visit us - you will find a real welcome and make many new friends as well as enjoying the music (and cheap beer). There are few places you could go and spend an evening listening to this quality of music at such an affordable price and you are guaranteed to leave feeling in awe of the artists and the performance - you will be hooked. Or as in the logo at the back of our T-Shirt "GRAB"-bed.
